New Delhi, July 15: Prosecution today asked the Delhi High Court to cancel the bail granted to Jessica Lall murder accused Vikas Yadav, son of Rajya Sabha MP D P Yadav, alleging he committed another crime while on bail in this case. In an application before Justice S K Agrawal, prosecution counsel S K Saxena alleged that Vikas committed kidnapping and murder of Nitish Katara in February last year while he was out on bail in the Jessica Lall murder case and requested the court to cancel his bail. Justice Agrawal, who initially advised Saxena to approach the trial court, posted the matter for August 6 after the prosecution counsel insisted that the high court should entertain his plea.

Vikas and his cousin Vishal, accused of kidnapping and murdering Katara from a marriage party in Ghaziabad, are in jail for over a year. Their bail pleas were transferred by Justice Agrawal to the court of Justice R C Chopra on July 8. The Katara murder case was transferred to a Delhi Court following a Supreme Court direction on a petition filed by the victim's mother Neelam Katara apprehending that fair trial would not be possible there.

Model Jessica Lall was shot dead allegedly by Manu, son of former minister Vinod Sharma, at a south Delhi restaurant owned by NRI socialite Bina Ramani on the intervening night of April 29-30, 1999, for refusing to serve him liquor. Vikas is accused of destroying evidence of the case.
