Kolkata, Aug 01: Canada and India are having talks for co-production of films, television serials and animations, Canadian High Commissioner in India, Peter H Sutherland, said on Thursday. Addressing a meeting organised by CII, Sutherland said that since India was one of the countries making substantial number of films, the entertainment industry would benefit from co-production with Canadian counterparts.

Sutherland said that Canada offers opportunities in the fields energy, gas, transportation, biotechnology, information technology, and film industries.
The diplomat said that the current trade turnover between the two countries is $2.5 billion.
Sutherland said that a consular general's office will soon be opened at Chandigarh, in addition to a trade office in Chennai.
Besides, visa application centres will also be opended in Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore, he said. Bureau Report
