Confusion over Trai directive to Reliance
New Delhi, June 14: Telecom regulator Trai is understood to have asked Reliance Infocomm to withdraw its tariff plan for WLL mobile services submitted by it late last year.
New Delhi, June 14: Telecom regulator Trai is understood to have asked Reliance Infocomm to withdraw its tariff plan for WLL mobile services submitted by it late last year.
Trai wrote a two-line letter to Reliance Infocomm asking it to withdraw the Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer Offer (DAPO) tariff plan but did not elaborate the reason for the action, sources said.
When contacted, Reliance Infocomm spokesperson told PTI from Mumbai that "all our tariff plans are IUC compliant since May 1”. “The original DAPO was withdrawn as desired by Trai. So we don't see any reason now for Trai asking us to withdraw the old plan which is no more valid."
"The issue is now irrelevant as all our revised packages are as per the Trai norms on Interconnect User Charge (IUC),” he added.
Under the original DAPO, Reliance had offered a call rate of Rs 0.40 a minute with a pulse rate of 15 seconds. But with the implementation of IUC regime with effect from May 1, Reliance had revised the tariffs making them IUC compliant as announced by Trai on January 24 this year.
