Mysore, Dec 29: Display of wall posters or distribution of leaflets announcing a reward to any one giving information about forest brigand Veerappan by Karnataka goverment is no news.
Such campaign, being carried on for some time past, was confined to villages on the periphery of forests that have been the operational areas of Veerappan. However in the wake of the killing of former minister H Nagappa and suspicion that the outlaw frequently changed his hideouts, the Karnataka government through its information department is supplying these posters for display in semi-urban and rural areas of Chamarajanagar district. Veerappan, who is also wanted in connection with murder, extortion and such other heinous crimes, has been at large for last twenty years.
Those who would give information regarding his hideout to STF personnel or tehsildar or the police will be given reward of rupees two crore and such information would be treated as confidential, say the posters.
