Bangalore, Nov 03: Karnataka Electronics Development Corporation (Keonics) has asked the state government not to wind up Keonics owned by it in the wake of reports that a high power committee had recommended its closure. Speaking to reporters here, company chairman Joseph Stalin said Keonics was making profits continuously for the last several years and had returned Rs six crore to the Karnataka government last year.
Keonics was an independently managed and self-sufficient organisation and its operations should not therefore be closed.
Stalin said Keonics had bagged orders worth Rs 10 crore in recent months and expected orders for an equal sum before the end of March next.
Keonics, which has set up the electronics city in Bangalore where it majors such as Infosys and Wipro are located, planned to establish software technology parks in Gulbarga and Belgaum, he said.
