Kolkata, Dec 08: West Bengal's Left Front government today came under fire from opposition Trinamool Congress and Congress during a no-trust motion for its alleged failure in health, education, law and order fronts and leading the state to bankruptcy. Leading the attack against the ruling LF during the TC and Congress-sponsored no-confidence motion, the leader of the opposition Pankaj Banerjee said that his party had to move a no-trust against the Buddhadev Bhattacharjee government as it had "lost" the confidence of the people.

The Front government, he alleged, came to power not through the people's mandate but through rigging.

He said due to financial indiscipline during its 26-year rule, the left front government had led the state to "bankruptcy". It had "incurred" Rs 3,500 crore excess expenditure "without" the sanction of the assembly.

The TC leader said the state experienced as high as 95 per cent dropout rate in primary education during LF rule, while the government's performance in public healthcare was also "dismal".
Similarly, law and order had sharply deteriorated in the state which frequently witnessed intra-CPI(M) clashes.

Supporting the motion, CLP leader Atish Sinha flayed the Marxists for accusing the Congress of compromising with communal forces. It was the Marxists, on the other hand, who had helped BJP to come to power, he said.

Sinha alleged that due to militant trade unionism by CITU, the state experienced flight of capital. Bureau Report
