Jaipur, Jan 22: The Rajasthan government today announced the abolition of computer fee, charged from students in government schools, with immediate effect. Making this announcement in the State Assembly Education Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari also constituted a committee, headed by the department secretary, to inquire into the present pattern of computer education by private parties in government schools, introduced by the previous Congress government. The committee has been asked to submit its report by February one, he said. Cases are pending before the anti-corruption bureau and Lokayukta against former chief of Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) P C Vyas who was instrumental in giving the job of imparting computer education in government schools to private firms and law will take its own course, Tiwari said. The state government had introduced computer education in schools on self financing basis from the year 2000-2001 making RBSE as a Nodel agency.

Contracts were given to private parties by inviting tenders for imparting computer education and charging Rs 600 a year from every student.
