Patna, Aug 11: The indefinite strike called by the Bihar Motor Transport Federation against revised road tax entered its 11th day today without any sign of settlement. Most of the major commercial vehicles remained off the roads while auto-rickshaws and mini buses were seen plying in the state capital here as usual. Notwithstanding the announcement by a group of transporters to suspend their agitation, BMTF general secretary Sagirul Haque after meeting the federation's general body yesterday had announced the strike would continue till the state government makes an amendment to the Bihar financial bill for revising the road taxes.
Chief Minister Rabri Devi and RJD chief had on Friday claimed that the transporters had decided to suspend their stir till August 25 keeping in view the unprecedented drought and flood situation.
Several major transporters had signed a written agreement with the state government pledging to suspend the stir but the federation's executive body finally disowned their decision.
