Meerut, May 10: Independent MLA from Khekhra, Madan Bhaiya, against whom an arrest warrant was issued by a local court in industrialist Swatantra Rastogi kidnapping case, has appeared before the court which granted him bail.
Madan Bhaiya appeared before additional district judge Bharat Bhushan yesterday and applied for bail.
Cancelling the arrest warrant against him and granting bail, the judge directed Madan Bhaiya to appear in the court on May 20. Madan Bhaiyya along with former Meerut Mayor Arun Jain was accused in kidnapping of industrialist Swatantra Rastogi.
Madan Bhaiya was earlier on bail. Since, he failed to appear in person in the court, a non-bailable warrant was issued against him on February 15, 2003. Madan Bhaiyya appealed in the high court against the arrest warrant. The high court stayed the execution of the arrest warrant for 15 days but when he failed to appear in the court on the fixed date, his bail was cancelled and an arrest warrant issued by additional judge Meerut Shiva Sharma. A notice was issued to bail bond persons on April 15.
The MLA Approached the high court against this and on April 30, it ordered that Madan Bhiaya be released on fresh bail bonds on the same day he appears before the trial court. Bureau Report
