Islamabad, Dec 24: Pakistan and Iran today agreed to strengthen defence cooperation even as the proposed joint naval exercises did not find mention during a meeting of defence ministers of the two countries.
Iranian defence minister Vice Admiral Ali Shamkhani, accompanying Iranian President Syed Muhammad Khatami, met Pakistan defence minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal and agreed to strengthen defence ties by exchanging high level visits, official media reports here said.
However, there was no mention of the proposed naval exercises reported by a section of the press here.
Both the ministers maintained there was a great potential for bilateral cooperation and should be utilised for the benefit of the two countries, official app news agency said.
