The stand-off between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Indian Cricket Board seems headed for a negotiated settlement as the cricket board president Jagmohan Dalimya on Friday accepted a face to face meeting with ICC top brass in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
“Yes, I am making arrangements for travelling to Kuala Lumpur as early as possible, Dalmiya told a news agency in Kolkata raising hopes for a way out of the 12-day impasse which threatened to split international cricket. The board president said he had already conveyed to ICC his willingness to travel to the Malaysian capital for the crucial meeting.
Dalmiya`s acceptance of the ICC offer came two days after he rejected the ICC deadline to the Indian Cricket Board to clarify its stand by noon on Friday on the inclusion of Virendra Sehwag for the first Test match between India and England at Mohali beginning on December 3. The deadlock had cast a shadow over the fate of England`s tour of India.
The ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed had offered a face to face meeting with Dalmiya at Kuala Lampur, a netural venue, at which ICC chairman Malcolm Gray would also participate, while extending the deadline till on Saturday.
