New Delhi, June 08: Delhi High Court has restrained MTNL from finalising technical bids for procurement of telecom equipment, a contract that runs into several crores of rupees, after Nokia India, a supplier, alleged it was disallowed from participating in the bidding on flimsy grounds. The contract relates to MTNL's proposed expansion of cellular operations envisaging an investment of Rs 600 crore.
Restraining MTNL from finalising the technical bids for procurement of equipment to expand cellular lines by four lakh each in Delhi and Mumbai on turnkey basis, a Vacation Bench comprising Justice B A Khan and Justice B D Ahmed also asked MTNL not to open the financial bid till further order.
The court fixed next hearing on the matter for July 9.
