"We are here to tell everyone that don't differentiate or be biased between a girl and boy. Gender equality is utmost important in today's day and age. We are far away from being at equal level. But today women are doing well in every field and things will change gradually," she said.

She also said that gender bias exists in every field be it sports, business or the film industry.

The actress was talking at "Like A Girl" campaign by Whisper that aims to encourage girls to do their best.

The 29-year-old actress feels lucky to have been brought up in an environment where there was no discrimination in the family.

"Society keeps saying don't do this, don't do that. I have two brothers and I feel fortunate that I had been raised in no different way. My parents have been quite supportive and I am glad I am able to make decisions and choices and do things the way I want," she added.

The actress says even though people used to tell her something discouraging she has always chose to ignore it.

"I am an adamant person. I don't listen when people say you can't do this or that. I don't think there is anything that I can't do. It's essential to have a strong support of family, friends," she said.

"I think encouragement in right way is needed. I am doing well in the film industry. I am working hard and with lot of passion and dedication. I am giving my best," she added.
