Shimla, June 12: Himachal Board of School Education would review the affiliation of those schools which do not fulfill the prescribed norms and continue to run without minimum necessary facilities for the students. Chairman of the board B R Rahi told reporters here today that he was "surprised" to see the conditions in some schools which do not even have separate bathrooms for boys and girls but to speak of required number of classrooms.

He said the affiliation of such high schools would be reviewed.

Rahi said there had been mushroom growth of educational institutions in the state during last five years but the quality of education had gone down due to "indifferent attitude" of those concerned with the education system.

The board would introduce new syllabus of the NCERT in the state from the next year, he said, adding it would not delete anything from the NCERT high school plan one-two books but could make some addition keeping in view the geographical condition of the state.

It had also been decided to amend the rules to show the answer scripts to the students who appear in various board examinations, Rahi said.

He announced that from this year first hundred students in order of merit in middle school examinations would be given a Rs 100 monthly scholarship, while the monthly scholarship for talented students of class 10 has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 150.
