New Delhi, June 23: Railway Minister Nitish Kumar today ordered an inquiry into the train accident on the Konkan Railway sector that has claimed at least 20 lives. The inquiry will be conducted by the commissioner, safety, railways, sources in railway ministry said. Meanwhile, Kumar, Railway Board chairman and other members have reached the accident site, the sources said. At least 20 people, including three children and four women, were killed and 25 others injured, when three bogies of the Karwar-Mumbai holiday special train derailed after hitting a boulder which had rolled on the tracks following a landslide in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra last night.
The accident occurred at 10:30 pm between Rajapur and Vaibhavwadi when the Mumbai-bound 904 up train from Karwar was passing through a tunnel. Bureau Report
