New Delhi, Sept 18: Telecom Dispute Settlement and Apellate Tribunal (TDSAT) today adjourned mobile operators' petition on V5.2 technology used in Wireless in Local Loop telephony till November 12 in view of the pendency of the case in the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the status quo as ordered on March 18 this year would continue, TDSAT chairman Justice S C Sen, who conducted the hearing of the case at his residence due to illness, said.
Since the case is coming up for hearing in the last week of September, TDSAT decided to postpone the case till November 12.
Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) had, last time, sought TDSAT's permission to make an audio-visual presentation on the technology being used by the basic operators for offering WLL services. The permission was turned down after government's counsel objected to it saying this was not mentioned in the application.
The cellular operators have been seeking prohibition of use of Mobile Switching Centre (MSC) by basic operators for WLL services.
Cellular operators had also sought that dot and telecom regulator be directed to ensure that all fixed operators fully comply with each and all terms and conditions of their licence as also all applicable recommendations, including the directive that FSPs do not use mobile switching centres for limited mobility.
