Raipur, Mar 14: Alleging largescale irregularities in the electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh, opposition BJP today said it would complain to the Election Commission in this regard. In a statement here, senior BJP legislator and former minister Brij Mohan Agrawal questioned the inclusion of the name of a Haryana MLA Om Prakash Jindal, member of Haryana Assembly, in the voters list of ward no 8 of Raigarh city against the serial number 1057.
"Certain about their defeat in the next poll, Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and his ministers are going beyond their rights and are including and deleting names in the electoral rolls on political consideration", he alleged. Levelling serious allegation, the BJP leader said the general administration department minister K K Gupta had called a meeting of the election officers of Raigarh district, represented by him, on November 5 last year. Following this, the number of electorate of Raigarh was reduced to 67,743 in January 2003 from 73,247 in December 1999 and in the same city the Haryana MLA's name was included, he charged.
Stating that they have given an adjournment motion on the issue in the state assembly yesterday, Agrawal said BJP would complain to the election commission on this largescale irregularity in voters' lists. In a significant development, a delegation of BJP legislature party, led by leader of opposition Nand Kumar Sai, has complained to the state governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya on Wednesday last on the irregularities.
