Sorenstam shot a 10-under-par 62, beating her own course record and registering eight birdies, two eagles and two bogeys. Sorenstam is attempting to defending one of the 11 titles she won last year.
"I played really well today," said Sorenstam, who tied a tour record here last season with an 11-stroke victory. "Obviously, I'm very excited about the start and how I played."

The 32-year-old Swede made history last week by playing in the PGA Tour Colonial event in Fort Worth, Texas. At the Colonial, she shot 145 over two days, beat 11 men and missed the cut by four strokes.
