Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Tuesday said that the country was passing through a transitional phase and sought to allay people's apprehension that everything was now coming to an end. Sometimes people think that everything is going topsy turvy and they feel everything is coming to an end. But there is no reason to believe that as we have faced such a situation in the past also, Vajpayee said without referring to the Ayodhya crisis.
Vajpayee was speaking at Rashtriya Sadbhavana Diwas organised by Arya Samaj at his residence in New Delhi.
He cautioned the people against conspiracies being hatched both inside and outside the country to destablise India and asserted that these attempts would be effectively foiled. Stating that casteism was on the rise and elections often aggravated it, Vajpayee said that there was no cause for concern as the country was strong and the border was safe and despite economic problems, it was progressing, he said.
