Senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh Rajnath Singh, who had opposed his party's alliance with BSP to form government in the state, today asked the party high command to relieve him of one of the two responsibilities of heading the BJP legislature party and taking charge of UP and Uttaranchal. I will fulfil the new responsibilities I have been entrusted with--the charge of Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal by the party, he told a television news channel.

I believe the party leadership has expressed confidence that I can make some contribution to the party (by making me incharge of the two states). But then I am also the leader of the BJP legislative party in UP.

I have been told to take care of both posts. But since Thursday, I have been in a dilemma, Singh said, adding that I'll request the leadership to relieve me of one of the responsibilities.
