New Delhi, Apr 14: A Delhi court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the scion of Baroda, Sangram Singh Gaekwad and his son Pratap Singh Gaekwad after they failed to appear before it in a cheque bounce case. Metropolitan magistrate J P Narain also issued NBW against K K Gaur, Deputy General Manager (purchase) of the Mumbai-based company Baroda Rayon Corporation and fixed July 7 for the next date of hearing.

However, the court granted exemption to co-accused Sangram Singh's wife Ashe Raje Gaekwad and one J P Singh, both directors of the company, after their counsel sought exemption on medical grounds.

The complaint, filed by Delhi-based Hindon carrying corporation pvt ltd, alleged that certain cheques issued to it by the company chaired by the scion were dishonoured by banks on the ground of "insufficient funds".

Appearing for Hindon, counsel D K Gupta contended that the cheques were for money which the rayon co owed his client for coal supplied by the latter.

Though the matter was brought to the notice of the accused, they paid no heed and hence the complaint, he added.
