Mira Nair`s much talked about film "Kamasutra" plays to the western audience and has been made from Hollywood point of view", Spanish film critic Angel Comas said in Mumbai maintaining that the director`s upbringing in US perhaps was responsible for this.
Comas, who is Mumbai in connection with the on-going MAMI International Film Festival, told news persons "The film is really erotic, something Indians are known for opposing". "Generally speaking, Indians would not accept such an erotic film,” he said adding, perhaps Nair`s upbringing in America had a lasting effect on her work.
Comas` comments came in the context that Hollywood films were leaving their influence on movies across the globe including European and Indian movies. Indian producer Amit Khanna, however, did not agree to his views saying "a film automatically becomes Indian the moment it is made by an Indian and tells the story about Indians. Bureau Report
