Barmer, June 30: Accusing the Gehlot government in Rajasthan of doing nothing to mitigate people's sufferings during the last four-and a half years, state BJP chief Vasundhara Raje has said the chief minister was now announcing sops in a hurry in view of the year-end assembly polls. "Since only four months are left for the polls all the announcements being made by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot are farce as they are not going to be implemented in his remaining term,” she told a public meeting during her Parivartan Yatra here last night.
The announcement that the state government would provide Rs.200 crores to power utilities for ensuring adequate supply of electricity to farm sector was aimed at pacifying farmers who were hit the most by the state government's "apathy", she said.
Had the step been taken earlier, farmers could have been saved from financial ruins, Raje said.
Expressing happiness over good monsoon in Barmer region where farmers ploughed their land after four years of drought, Raje said "even the nature is indicating a change. The people would now change the misrule of Congress in the polls".
