New Delhi, Nov 14: Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat led the nation in paying floral tributes to country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today, which is also the Children's Day. Shekhawat placed a wreath at Shantivan amidst children from various schools singing in memory of "Chacha Nehru".

Congress president Sonia Gandhi also paid tributes and joined an all-religion prayer meeting at the memorial.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and her cabinet colleagues, besides a large number of Congress workers turned up at Shantivan to pay respects to Nehru.

A wreath was laid on behalf of President A P J Abdul Kalam. Bureau Report
