New Delhi, Nov 25: Congress today released its final list of seven candidates for Gujarat assembly elections nominating Pradeepbhai Kantilal Ruwala from Ellisbridge seat.
BJP has fielded Bhavin Sheth from Ellisbridge after Chief Minister Narendera Modi's detractor Haren Pandya opted out of state assembly polls.
With the announcement of its final list, Congress has put up candidates for 181 out of 182 seats. The party has left one seat for CPI. The seven candidates are Jumabhai Ibrahimbhai Rayma (Abdasa), Pradeepbhai Kantibhai Ruwala (Ellisbridge), Nisha Rajput (Dariapur), Pankaj Shah (Shahpur), Farooq Shaikh (Kalupur), Jagat Shukla (Khadia) and Yogesh Patel (Anand).
Asked why only one seat was conceded to "secular" forces which were ready to join hands with Congress to defeat BJP in the state, party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told reporters winnability was the only criteria in selecting candidates. Bureau Report
