Kolkata, Dec 17: The Indian cricket team, which has created history by beating Australia in the Adelaide test despite limited bowling resources, is yet to make a request to the cricket board for sending Sanjay Bangar as reinforcement. "No official request has been made so far by the team management in this regard," cricket board president Jagmohan Dalmiya said here today when asked about the report that Indian team management was keen to utilise the services of a utility player like Bangar in third test.
To a query that whether such a possibility is there, he simply said, "Let's see how things move in the next few days.”
Earlier, report from Australia had suggested that the team management was keen to avail the services of Bangar for the third test beginning at Melbourne from December 26.
India, who held the upper hand in the first test in Brisbane and won the second test to take 1-0 lead in the four-test series, have been a bit handicapped in bowling with Harbhajan Singh as good as out of the tour and Zaheer Khan missing the second test because of a hamstring injury.
The Indian board has already sent Murali Kartik to Australia as a reinforcement because of an injury to spinner Harbhajan Singh.
