New Delhi, Nov 01: Cellular industry on Friday decried the government decision to bring in unified licence regime in the telecom sector, saying it would force them to pack off, even as a jubilant Reliance Infocomm welcomed the move. The new regime would give Reliance a chance to convert its WLL services into fully mobile telecom services.

Dejected by the Union Cabinet's decision to usher in a single licence system, Cellular Operators' Association of India, which had fought hard against the WLL services by basic operators, said its members were unable to think about the future.
"There is so much of depression in the industry that every member is completely dejected," COAI Director General T V Ramachandran said.
Asked if COAI would move court against the decision as it had been indicating in the past, Ramachandran said, "No one is now inclined to think about the next step." Bureau Report
