President initiates the process of formation of new government
New Delhi, May 17: President A P J Abdul Kalam today initiated the process of forming the new government at the Centre with the Election Commission handing over a copy of the notification of``due Constitution`` of the 14th Lok Sabha.

``due Constitution`` of the 14th Lok Sabha.
President Kalam is likely to invite the leader of the Congress alliance Sonia Gandhi to form the government later in the day as the combine has secured more than 218 seats and also have the support of Left and other parties, which have around 100 members in the newly-constituted house.
The notification, containing 539 elected members of the Lok Sabha, was signed by Chief Election Commissioner T S Krishnamurty and two other Election Commissioners, B B Tandon and N Gopalaswami, around 1030 hrs.
The Lok Sabha has 545 members, comprising 543 elected and two nominated members of ango-Indian community. Elections in four parliamentary constituencies is yet to be completed because of different reasons.
