New Delhi, May 16: As the demand for the resignation of Uttar Pradesh minister Amar Mani Tripathi for his alleged role in the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla grew, BJP today said those involved in criminal cases should not be allowed to hold ministerial posts. "The party is of the firm view that those having criminal cases against them should not be allowed to hold ministerial posts. Even chief minister Mayawati has said that any person involve in crime will not be in the government," BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.

He said BJP leaders had discussed the Tripathi issue with Mayawati but declined to go into details of what transpired at the talks.

"The police are investigating the case and let them complete the investigation. Those found guilty would not be allowed to remain in office," Naqvi said.
