New Delhi, July 29: Projecting BJP leader Madanlal Khurana as the next chief ministerial candidate of the party in Delhi, labour minister Sahib Singh Verma expressed hope that a bill for giving complete statehood for Delhi might be taken up at the current session of Parliament. "I hope that it (bill regarding complete statehood for Delhi) will be taken up in the (ongoing) session," Verma told reporters here on the sidelines of an international seminar on strategic value creation for coorporates'. Criticising Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit for not taking enough initiatives on the statehood issue for the last five years, he said "moreover, the Delhi government is not clear on its position in demanding the complete statehood,". He said if the Delhi government had any plans for it, then the Chief Minister should have met Prime Minister (Atal Bihari Vajpayee) and Deputy Prime Minister (L K Advani) adding the central government had a clear stand on the issue.

Asked who would be the BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate, for Delhi, he said "Madanlal Khurana will lead the party and will become the Chief Minister and the congress is all set to go out of the power." Bureau Report
