Lucknow, June 24: Two days after absconding Uttar Pradesh MLA Akhilesh Singh revolted against Chief Minister Mayawati's leadership, police today began proceedings for attaching his properties here and Rae Bareilly apparently in a bid to pressurise him to surrender. A police team raided the ancestral house of the MLA at Lalupur village in Rae Bareilly district and also his palatial bungalow in Rae Bareilly town to attach his properties, sources said.
Another raid was conducted at Singh's residence in the state capital, the sources said declining to elaborate.
Singh, who was elected from Rae Bareilly city seat on a Congress ticket, has been absconding since being released on bail in connection with the killing of a Congress leader at Rae Bareilly a few months back. Singh was instrumental in engineering a split in Congress legislature party in favour of ruling BSP but later fell out with Mayawati after he refused to join BSP along with seven other breakaway Congress MLAs.

The government has also announced a reward of Rs 2500 on Singh's head. Bureau Report
