Dhaka,Aug 16: At least four people were killed and 50 others injured when police opened fire to quell a mob trying clear an obstruction near a mosque at Malibagh area here Thursday. Three people died on the spot, while the fourth succumbed to his injuries in hospital where 12 critically wounded were admitted, police said. The dead included two madarasa students. The clash ensued in a dispute over the eviction of land belonging to Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (T&T). The clash began when a mob including madarsas students tried to reclaim a piece of land, witnesses said. Police said T&T board on Monday evicted several illegal occupants from the land, which was owned by the Authority since 1962. Bureau Report
