Blaming Pakistan’s inflexibility the reason behind the failure of Agra summit, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee said that the talks failed because Pakistan declined to acknowledge India’s concern of cross-border terrorism. Vajpayee said that Pakistan was adamant on not including the cross-border terrorism issue in the summit, though it kept pushing forward the Kashmir issue. The Prime Minister added that the decision on his proposed Pakistan visit was not as yet finalised, and it would depend on ‘circumstances’.
Speaking to newspersons after the Cabinet expansion on Sunday evening, Vajpayee said that all decisions during the Agra summit were with the approval of his council of ministers. Bureau Report
