Washington: The 'Lawrence of Arabia' starOmar Sharif's son Tarek Sharif has revealed that his father is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

The Legendary Egyptian actor's son said in an interview that his veteran actor father is struggling with his memory for the last three years and because of his illness he has retired from the industry, People Magazine reported.


The Golden Globe award winner's only child further mentioned that it's difficult to determine what stage the disease is at and now he will never improve and will get even worse.


Omar first rose to international fame for his role in 1962's ' Lawrence of Arabia' starring alongside Peter O'Toole and later starred in classics such as 'Doctor Zhivago' and 'Funny Girl' with Barbara Streisand.
