Kolkata, Aug 10: Hyatt Regency, the first international brand five-star hotel in Kolkata, today threw open its doors for guests even as the hotel industry was passing through its worst phase in terms of occupancy.
The 235-room hotel is the second Hyatt Regency hotel in the country after the one in New Delhi, set up more than two decades ago by Asian Hotels Limited under licence from the Hyatt International.
Hyatt Regency Kolkata, strategically located at Salt Lake midway between the metropolis and the airport, took nearly three years to come up at a total cost of Rs 145 crore.
According to Praveen Chawla, general manager of Hyatt Regency, it would be the "city's most sophisticated international hotel which will pave the way for new standards of hospitality."
Apart from a presidential, two executive, eight junior and two duplex suites the hotel has high-speed internet connection in each room, a fully equipped business centre and a unique interactive speciality restaurant, he said.
