Mumbai, Oct 29: Maharashtra government today rescinded its decision to allow sale of beer in departmental stores, in view of the opposition from different quarters.

This was announced by the Chief Minister Sushilkumar
Shinde, after a cabinet meeting here today.
Shinde said "we reconsidered the decision following opposition from various quarters and will not issue licences for sale of beer in departmental stores."
The cash-strapped Maharashtra government in an effort to mobilise resources had decided to allow the sale of beer in departmental stores.
