New Delhi, Oct 05: Directorate General of Anti-dumping and allied duties has recommended anti-dumping duty on imports of caustic soda from Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and EU excluding France. In its final findings, the directorate recommended that anti-dumping duty would be equal to the difference between 271.46 dollars per metric tonnes or 258.46 dollars per metric tonne and the landed value of imports.

The directorate said that caustic soda had been exported to India from the said countries below its normal value and domestic industry had suffered material injury and was facing threat of further injury. It was necessary to impose anti-dumping duty on all imports of caustic soda to remove the injury to the domestic industry, the directorate said in a notification dated October 01, 2003.

DGAD was acting on a petition by alkali manufacturers Association of India.

The preliminary findings with regard to anti-dumping findings were issued on January 08, 2003. Investigation was carried out for the period starting from January 01, 2003 to September 30, 2002.
