Lucknow, Aug 01: Security in and around Ayodhya is being beefed up in view of the visit of VIPs, including Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, to the temple town to attend the cremation of Ram Janmabhoomi Trust president Mahant Ram Chandra Paramhans today. Several political leaders and members of the Sangh Parivar are expected to attend the Mahant's funeral.
Ten companies of security forces, including the CRPF and PAC, have been deployed in the sensitive town in addition to the forces already deployed.
Senior police officials, including Superintendents of Police, from neighbouring districts have been sent to Ayodhya, he said. Inspector General of Police A K Jain is in Ayodhya to oversee the security arrangements. Instructions have been issued to keep a close watch on the movements of the anti-social elements.
Mahant Ram Chandra Paramhans died at 4.45 a.m. yesterday, two days after he was flown back here from Lucknow. He was 90.
The president of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas had suffered a heart attack and was hospitalised in Lucknow earlier this month. He was also suffering from cancer. Bureau Report
