Hyderabad, Nov 11: Questioning the `sanctity` of a series of welfare packages unveiled by TDP government in the midst of speculation over early assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, the president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) K Chandrasekhar Rao today said that the sops were designed to `hoodwink people to garner votes`.
Hyderabad, Nov 11: Questioning the `sanctity' of a series of welfare packages unveiled by TDP government in the midst of speculation over early assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, the president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) K Chandrasekhar Rao today said that the sops were designed to `hoodwink people to garner votes'.
"The sops were announced without any budgetary allocations and amount to gross misuse of power with an eye on snap polls," Rao alleged at a press conference here.
Pointing out that none of the promises made by TDP, in the run-up to the 1999 assembly elections, was fulfilled, he said the new set of promises was only aimed at `cheating people once again'.
Rao, who had quit TDP two years ago and floated TRS to fight for separate state for Telangana region, predicted that people would teach a `fitting lesson' to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the coming elections.
