New Delhi, Apr 21: BJP chief Venkaiah Naidu addressed a press briefing today here and said that the feedback from state units regarding the poll trend in the first phase of polling reflects a positive and an encouraging picture for the party. He said, “On analysing the figures of yesterday’s poll trend, our party is very comfortably placed. Though I hold a very different opinion regarding the exit and opinion polls, but all the surveys and polls are in favour of our government.”
B “There is no doubt in our mind regarding the success of BJP in the assembly polls. As far as the assembly polls are concerned, I would like to say, that Karnataka will be the gateway of success for BJP this time. Government in Karnataka will be formed under the leadership of BJP (Vajpayee). As far as the win in terms of margin of vote is concerned, I won’t get into it,” Naidu said. While further expressing his opinion regarding exit and opinion polls, Naidu said, “Not one agency in their survey and opinion poll have predicted that people are in a mood to bring Congress back to power.”
B Naidu said, “This non-Congress current will be further strengthened by the outcome of the final polls results. Moreover, people want a successful government for five years under the leadership of Prime Minister Vajpyee.” Top BJP leaders, including Vajpayee, Pramod Mahajan, Arun Jaitley, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, today held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence to review the party's prospects in the Lok Sabha elections following the first phase of elections.
