Imphal, June 10: Security has been beefed up in parts of the state capital in view of the two-day visit of Union Minister of State for Home I D Swami from today amidst a boycott call given by banned Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), official sources said. Swami is scheduled to arrive here this afternoon to review the prevailing law and order situation with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and senior security officials in the wake of a series of crimes in the past few months perpetrated by militants, the sources said.
Patrolling has been intensified and police and para-military forces deployed at all the places where the minister would travel.
Stating that the Centre was seriously concerned about the deteriorating law and order situation, the sources said the recent kidnapping and killing of businessman Manoj Sethi was also likely to come up for discussion in the meeting between Union Minister and state officials.
