Chandigarh, Oct 24: Sukhbir Singh Badal, son of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, today failed to turn up before the state vigilance bureau officials here for the second round of questioning in connection with a graft case registered against the Badal family. Sources close to Sukhbir claimed that he did not appear before the VB as the notice served to him by the investigating agency had not reached him.

While Sukhbir`s father and mother Surender Kaur were quizzed by the VB at the Akali Dal chief`s official residence on October 8, Sukhbir`s questioning remained inconclusive on October 9.

The VB, which had so far served four summons to Sukhbir Badal to explain his position in the disproportionate assets case, had on October 22 served the fresh notice to him seeking his appearance before the economic offence wing (EOW) of the VB here for questioning along with details of his properties and financial transactions.

Sukhbir, who is also Member of Parliament, had ducked the VB notices for questioning him twice on October 3 and October 6.

The VB had also asked Parkash Singh Badal and his wife to furnish more clarifications with regard to their sources of income and expenditure by today as the figures mentioned by them in their replies fail to tally with the calculations of the bureau, VB sources said.
