India easily outclassed Macau 142-33 to reach the semi-finals of the 19th Asian Basketball Championship for women in Bangkok on Tuesday.
In the other semi-final Uzbekistan also had little problem in crushing Sri Lanka 113-48 on the sixth day of the competition. In the semi-finals starting on Tuesday, China will face Taiwan and South Korea will play Japan in the semi-final level I, while India will meet Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will meet Malaysia in the semi-final level II.
The top three teams from level I, comprising China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand, will travel to China next year for the world championships. Level II teams, which are vying for a slot among the level I sides, include Hong Kong, India, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan.
North Korea is not participating in this year's tournament due to financial constraints, organisers said. Bureau Report
