The Uttaranchal government is in favour of conducting assembly elections in the state in February end or early March, chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari said in Lucknow on Friday.
“We have no problem if the election commission decides to hold elections in Uttaranchal along with Punjab and Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
“However, considering the weather conditions in the hills, we would prefer it in the last week of February or the first week of march and the commission had already been apprised of it,” Koshiyari said.
The state government is fully geared up to hold elections in the new hill state, he added.
