Kolkata, Nov 27: Close on the heels of the CAT scam, West Bengal Police busted an inter-state racket in forged marksheets and arrested two persons in this connection from the city's suburbs. Acting on a tip-off, CID sleuths nabbed the culprits from Uttarpara area of neighbouring Hooghly district on November 24 and seized a number of forged marksheets of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, 2003.

State police DIG (CID) Raj Kanojia told newspersons today that during interrogation, the two accused admitted to having links in Bihar.

Police are looking for another person, supposed to be the kingpin of the racket, on the basis of information provided by them.
Of the two arrested, one owned a phone booth in Uttarpara which acted as the centre for the clandestine trade.

Kanojia said that the racket had been operating for about six years now and hundreds of forged marksheets could have been sold till date.

The accused had admitted to selling fake marksheets at the rate of Rs 5,000 to 6,000 each, he claimed.
