Nasik, June 23: Heavy rains lashing the city and surrounding areas since last two days have led to flooding of Godavari and Waghadi rivers, disrupting normal life. However, no loss of life has been reported so far from the district, official sources said here today.

The flood water inundated hutments and houses situated on the banks of Godavari and Waghadi, the sources said.

Several developmental works undertaken by the Nasik Municipal Corporation (NMC) for forthcoming 'kumbh-mela' including small bridges were either damaged or washed away in the first flood in Godavari this monsoon, while a wall collapsed in Phul-Bazar area and several trees were uprooted in many parts of the district.

In the holy town of Trimbakeshwar, houses in low-lying areas were flooded due to heavy rains, reports reaching here said.

The sky is overcast and more rains are expected tonight, sources added.
