Milan, Dec 07: The Italian Soccer League has lifted a one-game ban on AS Roma's Homefield, originally decided following the violent behaviour of some Roman fans. The disciplinary commission yesterday instead increased the team's fine from 20,000 Euros to 50,000 Euros.
The decision means that AS Roma will be allowed to play its next home match against Reggina on December 15 at its home ground.
The original suspension had been levied after powerful fireworks launched by Roman fans during the Parma-Roma serie a match on Nov 24 caused severe hand injuries to a firefighter.
Italian clubs are considered responsible for their fans behaviour. However, AS Roma appealed the suspension, saying it could not ensure the same tight security measures it enforces at home during away games.

Meanwhile, Italy's interior minister Giuseppe Pisanu called an urgent meeting with soccer officials for Monday to discuss ways to combat increasing violence in Italian stadiums.

Two second-division players were attacked by angry fans in Cagliari and Naples in recent weeks.
