Former Bihar minister surrenders in murder case
Hajipur (Bihar), June 29: Former Bihar minister and RJD leader Rajendra Rai surrendered today while police attached the property of absconding BJP MLA, Nityanand Rai, in connection with a murder case 11 years ago.
Hajipur (Bihar), June 29: Former Bihar minister and RJD leader Rajendra Rai surrendered today while police attached the property of absconding BJP MLA, Nityanand Rai, in connection with a murder case 11 years ago.
Rajendra Rai, who had been evading arrest, surrendered to
the police which had gone to attach his property in connection
with the murder of Ram Devan Rai, brother of RJD MLC,
Bishundeo Rai, in 1992 at Station Chowk area under town police
station of Bihar's Vaishali district, the police said.
The police attached the property of Nitayanad Rai, BJP MLA from Hajipur and also an accused in the murder case, who has gone underground.
Four persons including the BJP MLA and former minister of state for science and technology, Rajendra Rai, were made named accused in the FIR lodged with the town police station.
Chief judicial magistrate A K Sharma had issued arrest warrants against them on May 03 on the plea of town police.
The file of the case was closed but when RJD MLC Bishundeo Rai raised the issue of his brother's killing in the council, the Vaishali Superintendent of Police, Shobha Ohatkar, reopened the case file.
The SP in her report found the charges levelled against the named accused true and ordered their arrest. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tirhut range, S K Bhardwaj, who was asked by the Director-General of Police D P Ojha to supervise the case, also found the charges against the named persons true.
