Surat, Aug 10: Sunanda Shetty, the prime accused and mother of film actress Shilpa Shetty, was interrogated today in an alleged extortion case registered by a Surat-based saree manufacturer. Sunanda's interrogation continued till evening on the basis of a recorded telephonic talks allegedly indicating underworld links, official sources said here.
The investigating agency had earlier interrogated her former driver Dilip Palsekar and hotelier Kotiyan, the sources said.
Police yesterday had also conducted her voice test to match with the one that figured in the alleged telephonic conversation.
Police claimed to have recorded telephonic conversation between Shilpa's parents and businessman Pankaj Aggarwal which allegedly indicate that he was threatened to give Rs 80 lakhs.
Shetty would remain present in police station till tomorrow evening as per the court directive.
The court had rejected police plea for 14-day remand of Sunanda but asked her to report to police as and when required.
