Siliguri, May 31: The Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan and different militant groups were active along the Indo-Bangla border in north Bengal, Additional Director General (east) of BSF S I S Ahmed said. Ahmed told reporters after inaugurating the BSF eastern frontier's first quarterly operational workshop at Kadata that the ultras were also smuggling drugs through the border in north Bengal. However, the rate of smuggling was not that high, he said adding that BSF had been discussing the issue at higher level and adequate measures were being taken.
Referring to infiltration of Bangladesh nationals, Ahmed said that as the border was porous it was too difficult to make it cent per cent leak proof. However, BSF and BDR were holding talks and rate of infiltration was now under control.
Ahmed said that the workshop was attended by the inspector generals and BSF officials of north Bengal, south Bengal Tripura-Cachhar-Mizoram and Assam-Meghalaya-Manipur-Nagaland frontiers, discussed operational matters and problems faced in the field. Bureau Report
